This Song Is a Mess But So Am I

Bio

This Song Is A Mess But So Am I is the one man electronic music project of Freddy Ruppert. Based in Los Angeles, CA. He has released a full album and some split 7''s and cassettes with Xiu Xiu, E-meow and Rainbow Blanket. A new EP is coming soon on Acuarela.

This is what he said about his influences : "I listen to a lot of different kinds music and I highly enjoy experimental and noisy music. But I also like poppy music, I like songs that have melodies. So my sound kind of comes from the mixing of both of those styles. I would say Skinny Puppy was a band that first got me into wanting to do electronic music in the first place. Bands that have influenced the more noise side of my music would be Throbbing Gristle, and I am extremely obsessed with the band Swans. I also was really into synthpop and IDM/glitch type music when I first started working with electronics. But mainly I listen to the Smiths, Morrissey, and Joy Division. I also listen to a lot of free jazz and I think some of the noise aspects come from there. I am just into the noise being used and improvised as an emotional release."
