"They'd call me Sex Man!"
"They'd call me Sex Man!"
jbenwell by James Benwell May 21st, 2001
New Found Glory are the latest up and coming punk rock band. Touted as the new Blink 182 they’re certainly building up a large following on both sides of the Atlantic. Playing catchy, fast paced melodic punk with a very noticeable emo influence, they’ve certainly got what it takes to be huge. This will probably be helped by the fact that lead singer Jordan isn’t very ugly at all.

James: “How are you enjoying your time in Britain?”

NFG: “It’s awesome! We don’t get to see any sights or do anything though because we’re playing a show every night.”

“Do you have any plans to come back?”

“Yes, in September with Fenix TX. That’ll be all over the UK and Europe.”

“What are you listening to at the moment?”

“The new Feeder album, Atomic Kitten and the Backstreet Boys! They’re all bands we’ve discovered over here in the UK. Backstreet Boys are from the US but no-one listens to them over there!”

“Well thanks for bringing them over!”

“No problem man! Really though, I’m listening to the new Jimi Eat World CD and the new Blink CD which you can’t get yet!”

“Is it good?”

“It’s awesome! I think it’s the best thing they’ve ever done. Hey, you know you look like the singer from Green Day?”

“It’s been said…but anyway! I’m listening to a lot of emo at the moment. If there was one piece of advice you could give to a teenage guy about girls, what would it be?”

“Don’t get caught up in the moment and when a girl’s treating you bad and breaking your heart, don’t get stuck with all the emotions. You’ve got to realise you have another 35, 40 years to live, and there’s 20 billion other girls out there! I’d also say, have lots of protective sex and get ‘em while they’re young!”

“What’s New Found Glory’s favourite pick up line then?”

“It’d be “Hey, I’m in a band”! No actually, you have to say, “Hey, wanna get a pizza and fuck?” and they look at you all crazy and you say, “What, you don’t like pizza?!”

“As a band, you always get labelled with the tag of emo, would you say that’s justified?”

“I think that people say that because of our lyrics and vocal melodies. Our music isn’t really emo, it’s punk and more aggressive and heavy. I can see why people would say that though.”

“What are your plans for the rest of the year and when can we expect to see something new out?”

“Our plans for the rest of the year are that we go back to the States and play some radio shows. Then we play 2 weeks of the Warped Tour before playing an 11 week tour with Blink. Then we come back over here and do 2 weeks with Fenix TX. Then we go back to the States for another headlining tour and THEN we’re gonna record a new album! That’ll hopefully be out March/April time.”

“You’ve just toured with Less than Jake, what did you think of them as people because a few bands that’ve been over here, especially Goldfinger have voiced some complaints.”

“We love them! They’re our favourite band to tour with and we love those guys!”

“So if it came down to a fight who would you help?”

“Oh, Less than Jake man! I’d break that old guy’s hip! LTJ are our close friends.”

“Who’s your favourite superhero?”

“The Punisher!”

“If you could have one super power, what would it be?”

“Invisibility, because then you can go anywhere you want. Oh, and to have sex for an enumerate amount of hours!”

“Is that a super power?!?”

“YES!”

“OK, what would you be called if you had that power then??”

“Sex Man!!”
