Mystic Col Predicts
Mystic Col Predicts
rubbafish by Colin Weston March 16th, 2002
My predictions tend to be fairly accurate it would seem. In 2000 I predicted Lifehouse, Crazy Town and 3 Doors Down to be success stories in 2001. Last September I told people to look out for a band called Nickelback and so I have decided to put my neck on the line as such and predict a few forthcoming tracks that I think will get peoples attention by entering the 'mainstream'.

First up is german rock band H-Blockx and the their cover of the 90's dance classic 'The Power'. Currently getting a lot of play on Kerrang, it is more rock then nu-metal and the thing that makes it a grower is the inclusion of Snap's powerful rapper, Turbo.

Next up is Atlanta's own Outkast and their forthcoming single The Whole World. I can talk about this band all day as I just think they are the mutts nuts. Different to their UK break through track Mrs. Jackson, it is more a sombre effort by Dre & Big Boi but I think it will shift more then a few copies and gain the band even more fans.

One that has a possibility it X-Ecutioners and their track 'It's Going Down'. Featuring members of Linkin Park and Wayne from Static-X, it got released in the U.S a little while back and is the best rap/rock band cross over since Run DMC & Aerosmith back in the day. I haven't heard of an official release date yet, but this is one to keep an eye on.

Last recommendation for now is possibly my biggest risk. Stateside they are massive but in the UK they are virtual unknowns... I am talking about Adema. The Californian band are currently on the Linkin Park/Cypress Hill tour, and over the pond their single ‘The Way You Like It' is taking the U.S by storm. The bands first UK single ‘Giving In’ was released on March 4th and didn't set old blighty alight but the release of 'The Way You...' could change all that.

So, those are my predicitions, lets see if I have any idea what I am on about or if I am full of shit.... the jury is out!
