D-Frag # 26
....London gig previews e-zine thingy

Hallo!
I wish my ears would stop ringing.
Queens of the Stone Age lastnight. Oh wow. Was a bit of a let down in places. So bloody loud tho. I was expecting a full-on kiss type stage show with naked dancers, fire and clowns humping in the corner.. but no, no. Very simple. Bearded bold-men screaming. No nakedness. Maybe not the right combination of drugs. Or maybe they were saving themselves for tonight. I dunno. The albums great but I havent had long enough to live with it. 20 minutes shorter set and some pyrotechnics and it would of out done Icarus Line at 100 Club as gig of the year. Just. But it didnt.

*MP3 OF THE WEEK*
Cars As Weapons
...another great band from Southend way (see also: Engerica, Redjetson, Resin...) doing what 100 Reasons do a helluva lot better and more convincing. They were gonna replace Tyler at the dis gig on Weds but we've not CANCELLED/POSTPONED this show until a later date. Check out the mp3 all the same @ drownedinsound.com/audio.php

*DEMO OF THE WEEK*
Tsuji Giri ...this lot putting this out via manchesters Soviet Union Records, previously responsible for OCEANSIZE and its back with stuff from the equally ace Sonar Yen... Tsuji Giri (pronounced Soogee Geary) were one of the bands of In the City this year, playing a manchester music show. Thier music is raw, rough and loud like a lorry of fireworks crashing into a petrol station. But through the shards of angst, the rivers of catharthis and urgent desperation, songs like 'gotta love war' there are shuddering breaks before whizzing and popping and crashing and spinning.... Oh fuck, i've gone all cliched. This is just brillant. Too hard to explain and comparions wouldnt do it justice. There's stuff @ tsujigiri.com.

This weeks E-zine is bought to you by.....
1. the power of the (International) Noise Conspiracy mp3s, get your own @ http://alt.digitalfarmers.com/tinc/ or just go out and buy me the albums - like i should do, but xmas aint far off and no-one ever knows what to get me!
2. Cadburys Boost with Guarana which are surprisingly nice
3. Snapshots of Natural Born Killers the directors cut which i'm gonna re-watch in a minute.
4. Ben Myers amazing book titled 'American Heretics' which has got me really excited about the power of music again. Read John Robbs review @ http://www.drownedinsound.com/article.php?id=4986
5. www.maketradefair.com just because you should! and if you dont know why you're too stoopid to be able to read.
