90s Nostalgia News, or, Midget and Wojtek Godzisz release things
benmarwood by ben marwood January 11th, 2007

Why, here at DiS we do love a bit of nostalgia. Our memories are littered with references to old Idlewild albums, and thinking wrestling was real. No? Just me then?

Anyway, imagine my personal joy when news reaches me that reformed sugar-metallers Midget (pictured) are to release new material as part of a mini-compilation this February. ‘My Infatuation’ will form part of Alcopop!’s Alcopopular! Vol 1 compilation, which also features the likes of Ooberman and Popular Workshop.

Alcopopular! Vol 1 will be available both as the third part of the Alcopop! Singles Club at the end of January (for subscribers only though, obviously), and as a standalone release at the end of February. Available on mini 3” CD and at a rumoured price of only £3, the tracklisting is:

Midget - 'My Infatuation'
Family Machine - 'Ko Tao'
Popular Workshop - 'Sunday Morning 10am'
Beauty Skool Dropout - 'What's This Song'
Ooberman - 'Crashing Ellipticals'
Foxes - '6 o' clock'

It would also be quite remiss of us not to remind you of the next Alcopop! gig night:

Alcopop #3
Monday, 29th January
Dave House + Simply Luke Leighfield + more TBA
The Social, London W1
£5 advance from WeGotTickets, £3 for singles club subscribers

You can subscribe to the singles club by visiting this website here.

Meanwhile, former Symposium bassmaster Wojtek Godzisz is set to release his debut six-track solo EP for Tigertrap on February 5th. Expect a full review in the coming weeks, once I’ve stopped spinning around with glee, sat down and starting writing it. Joy.
