Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has confirmed that the band have completed the backing tracks for their ninth studio album.
The metal legends’ first long player since 2003’s St Anger has been slated for a February 2008 release. Recorded in Los Angeles, it has been produced by beardie marvel Rick Rubin. You'll have to make up your own titles for the time being, sadly.
Ulrich told Studio Brussel in an interview at Belgium's Rock Werchter Festival: "It doesn't sound like St Anger to me. It's a little early to kind of put in a soundbite exactly. But it doesn't sound anything like St Anger.
"It's probably a little more dynamic, and a little more varied, and it has lots of different nutty Metallica stuff on it."
The band are currently touring their little socks off somewhere on the continent, or ‘Europe’, if you will. They will play Live Earth at Wembley Stadium on July 7, only to return the following evening in a non-charitable capacity, for another performance.
