Scott Weiland: Wife Beater?
oappleby by Ollie Appleby November 21st, 2001
Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland was arrested early Monday morning at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on a charge of battery/domestic violence.

After spending 12 hours in jail, he was released on monday for $3,000 bail. Later that night he performed at the hotel's live music venue, the Joint, with his bandmates.

Scott's wife, Mary, told police: "The incident began over a verbal argument about prescription medication, (she) was sitting in front of a door in an attempt to keep him from leaving the room, (Scott) grabbed her by her arms and pushed her against the wall several times." As a result if the altercation Mary was badly bruised on both biceps.

In late 1999, Scott was sentenced to spend one year in LA's Biscailuz Recovery Center after violating probation for 1997 heroin possession charges after a heroin overdose in July 1999.

He was released from jail in January 2000 but remained in a supervised treatment program.
