Super-Rev: Makers, Monkeys, Mystery Jets and Supergrass to form charity supergroup
TheBoyDeadly by TheBoyDeadly February 15th, 2008

Members of Arctic Monkeys, Mystery Jets, Supergrass and Reverend and the Makers have tethered together to form an ‘indie supergroup’.

“Well we suppose all superheroes have their fatal flaw,” etc, etc, except not, because it’s for charity and even we’re above sneering at that.

The group plan to record a track to raise money for a charity called Bottletop that endeavours to help street kids in some of the world’s most deprived areas, including Brazil, India and Malawi.

McClure explained more to Xfm:

“I've got loads of musicians coming together to form a new supergroup,” the Reverend confirms. “I've only just started recruiting but so far I've got Danny Goffey [Supergrass], some lads from Arctic Monkeys and the Mystery Jets' drummer [Kapil Trivedi] and their bassist [Kai Fish]."

It won’t be a bunch of white lads wandering gormlessly through bemused favelas, though – the band plan to give the young Brazilians a key role in the creative process.

"We're gonna record tracks here in London then take it over to Brazil,” McClure continued. “A supergroup of Brazilians will put vocals onto our tracks and then our British artists will do the same to their tracks."

To be applauded, no?
