RIP: The Dead 60s
TheBoyDeadly by TheBoyDeadly March 3rd, 2008

Scouse dub pirates The Dead 60s have split up after half a decade of good, honest graft.

The quartet served notice of the break-up on their MySpace page, with a ‘blog posting that read:

Hi all,

Well, some of you may have heard the news by now.....The Dead 60s are no more. We decided to call it a day just after Christmas. There's no big story, no falling out between us. We just felt like the band had run its course, time for us all to branch out & try other things.

A big thanks to everyone who has been partial to the success that we had and to all the amazing gigs/tours/nights out that we experienced along the way.

And so, on to new things and new music. We will keep you posted of our new projects & hope to see you all soon.

Feri bhetaula,

Matt, Charlie, Ben & Bryan.

Considering the current inactivity of The Ordinary Boys, the split leaves Audio Bullys as the sole torchbearers for the ‘yob bob’ scene that dominated British culture in late 2004, though the band’s Nepalese sign-off suggests we will, in fact “meet again”.

The band leaves a legacy of one two albums [sorry, we must have missed that one] a couple of singles and these rather fetching Fred Perry Harrington jackets, yours for just £115. Wear it with pride, in memoriam, ad infinitum.
