Solvent abuse: real new Fall LP, autobiography and spring jaunt for MES
ssssamuel by zzzzzz zzzzzz March 5th, 2008

After pursuits away with Von Südenfed, welcome back Mark E. Smith and The Fall for record number 27. Imperial Wax Solvent is released on April 28 through Castle Records and sees the slate wiped clean yet again with a new makeshift roster consisting of Smith alongside wife Elena Poulou, Keiron Melling and David Spurr, none of whom appeared with Smith on 2007’s Reformation Post-TLC.

Featuring a Groundhogs cover (‘Strangetown’) and a track co-written with Andi Toma of Mouse On Mars renown (‘Is This New’), the tracklisting for Imperial Wax Solvent runs as follows:

‘Alton Towers’
‘Wolf Kidult Man’
‘50 Year Old Man’
‘I've Been Duped’
‘Strangetown’
‘Taurig’
‘Can Can Summer’
‘Tommy Shooter’
‘Latch Key Kid’
‘Is This New’
‘Senior Twilight Stock Replacer’
‘Exploding Chimney’

The record’s release coincides with the publication of Smith’s autobiography, out on April 24, entitled Renegade: The Lives and Tales of Mark E. Smith. Whatsay Smith? “Reams of stuff have been written about me in the past, but never in my own words: this is the proper one”.
