Fraudsters sting Kurt Cobain for £36m, Courtney tells LA police
TheBoyDeadly by TheBoyDeadly March 10th, 2008

Kurt Cobain’s estate has been ransacked by fraudsters to the tune of £36m, widow Courtney Love has told the Sun.

The ex-Hole singer claims to have known about the plundering of daughter Frances Bean’s inheritance for five years, stating that she wasn’t sound enough of mind at the time to take any action.

“I knew it had been going on since when I went cuckoo — bananas — in 2003,” she said, referring to that year’s succession of drugs arrests, hospitalisations and failed rehab attempts.

“It was fraud after fraud. But nobody believed me until now. I did a check on my deceased husband’s social security number and he has a house in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He bought it last year.

“I would like to know how. He should probably get his ass back home if that is the case.”

That house is more of a mansion, according to the ‘paper, its £1.6m valuation adding to the 188 credit cards set up in Love’s name in the last half decade and the cheques stolen by identity thieves to buy cars.

Remarkably, Love claims she’s already discovered who’s ripping off Cobain’s estate, worth £21m a year through album sales and various other licensing deals.

“I know who they are,” she claimed, before referring to the fact that the majority of the money is intended for 1416-year-old Frances Bean.

“Taking a child’s money and future is a really horrible thing.”

Which is presumably why Love has taken the case to forensic accountants and informed police in the Van Nuys area of Los Angeles, believing the fraudsters to have pulled off one of the biggest identity coups in US history.
