Boring touring: Sex Pistols and Fleetwood Mac
TheBoyDeadly by TheBoyDeadly March 26th, 2008

Time was when you’d have to hold a gun to my head to get me to place Sex Pistols in league with Fleetwood Mac, but whatever, if derision’s good enough for Corgan I can’t continue carrying sacred cows from my teens. Fair?

Anyway, John Lydon and co. will be at The Academy in Birmingham on the 11th June to play a warm-up show for the Isle of Wight Festival. Expect beer guts galore and more cynicism and self-referential lip-curling than your average DrownedinSound news column.

For example: any band that hasn’t played a city for 32 years probably shouldn’t ever play it again. Lip, curled; tickets go on sale at 9am Friday.

Elsewhere, bumpkin chanteuse Sheryl Crow plots a potential joining with Fleetwood Mac for a tour early next year, that’s 2009, possibly with new material.

MOR revival FTW! Not sure.

"I think we were all a little surprised she was announcing that to the world with such certainty,” said Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsay Buckingham of Crow’s announcement last week.

"We have talked about the possibility of bringing another woman into the scene to kind of give Stevie [Nicks, singer] a sort of foil and shake it up a little bit. She [Crow] was certainly a name that has come up. We'll have to see."

That's all for this edition of Boring Touring. DiS remains depressingly sure of an imminent return, however.
