‘I’ll be watching you’: is Sting stalking Matt Bellamy?
TheBoyDeadly by TheBoyDeadly April 24th, 2008

Muse frontman Matt Bellamy has having a hard time of it at home in Italy, apparently being targeted by a besotted Irish stalker.

Bellamy lives with his wife near Lake Como in Northern Italy but has been repeatedly visited by an obsessive male fan who travels all the way from Ireland to leave strange gifts at his doorstep.

Well, I say obsessive. Perhaps his premonitions about the end of the world are right. If and when his opinions are corroborated, I’ll duly issue a retraction.

"He's from Ireland and he keeps coming to where I live in Italy,” Bellamy told ContactMusic. “And he keeps leaving bags full of crazy stuff, like loads of bottles with messages written on them.”

Perhaps now you can see where we’re going with the headline. Tenuous? Sting was raised a Roman Catholic as his paternal grandmother was of Irish descent. And he wrote lyrics about such things as stalking, (‘Every breath you take’) and sending out messages in bottles, (‘Message in a Bottle’). So, clearly, we have our culprit.

"He's got loads of poetry that he has written,” Bellamy said of Sting, real name Gordon Sumner, “which is all about the end of the world. He's trying to create little bits of clues and puzzles that are supposed to lead me to some kind of journey somewhere."

I’ll give you a clue, Bellamy.
