Leftfield Split For Solo Work
jrawcliffe by Jonathan Rawcliffe March 4th, 2002
Pioneering House duo Leftfield have split to pursue 'solo projects'.

In a statement, Neil Barnes and Paul Daley urged fans not to be downhearted, saying; “This should be seen as a new beginning in an ongoing process.”

Neil Barnes thanked “everyone from fans to promoters to DJ's and to listeners”.

Paul Daley said; "Leftfield was always about pushing the boundaries of sound as far as we could. I'm proud to be a part of this. Thanks to all the people we have worked with over the years and to everyone that promoted and bought our records. The end is just the beginning"

When their debut album, Leftism, was finally released in January 1995 after five years work, it was hailed as “the first truly complete album experience to be created by house musicians”, and was described as house music's 'Sergeant Pepper'.
