New Daft Punk album creation underway
sean by Sean Adams May 30th, 2008

DiS is just a bit excited to hear news that Thomas Bangaleter and Guy-Manuel de Homen-Christo, better known as Daft Punk, are in their Paris studio, working on a new record.

In an interview with In The Mix magazine, Pedro Winter, revealed the band "are in a studio in Paris at the moment" when asked if they were working on a new record.

Pedro, is the owner of Ed Banger (home to Justice, Sebastian and Uffie) and has been Daft Punk's manager for twelve year. However he also revealed he has recently stepped down as their manager to focus on his own career as Busy P, as well as his hugely successful and influential label. There's clearly no bad blood because he continued "I can't wait to listen to their new stuff!

Don't get too excited, that was about all he said. There’s no album name or release date and he continued "They are slow, you know. They are taking their time, and they have a right (to take their time)."

Since the news, the web has been ablaze with excitement and a small amount of contemplation whether they might 'do a Radiohead'. Looking into our crystal ball, we suspect they'll do something five times more exciting, like making the album available via bluetooth at some huge show or making it available for free but mixed into one long mp3 featuring their favourite new acts. Or maybe they'll keep it old skool and just give it to all the members of their award winning but now seemingly defunct Daft Club?

DiScuss: Most influential band since Nirvana? Where to start with Daft Punk?
