RIP: Be Your Own PET to split after one last hurrah round UK
dandruff by Ashraf Dumile August 4th, 2008

Nashville oiks Be Your Own PET have announced that they shall split after their forthcoming UK dates.

After four years during which the group released their eponymous debut in 2006 and Get Awkward (review) earlier this year, the Ecstatic Peace/XL act left this brief post on their MySpace:

“To all of our fans,

“We are sad to bring you the news that our upcoming shows in the UK are going to be our last as a band. We thank you for all your love and support these past few years – its [sic] been a blast but the time has come for the 4 of us to go our separate ways.”

No specific reason was given for the split, however all members are expected to pursue other projects with Jonas Stein and John Eatherly already involved in Turbo Fruits together, whilst bassist Nathan Vasquez is part of Deluxin.

Fancy catching one of their last performances? The quartet play these dates before they call it a day:

August
22 Reading Reading Festival
23 Leeds Leeds Festival
25 Liverpool Carling Academy 2
26 London Dingwalls
