Win tickets to see Laura Marling + 'Night Terror' video
sean by Sean Adams October 27th, 2008

DiS has a pair of tickets to give away to each of Laura Marling's forthcoming shows. First a quick reminder for those wondering who-what-why-etc...

Nearly three years ago DiS caught wind of some young girl from Reading with a lush voice and poignant lyrics. We procured a copy of her demo, loved that she name-checked Ryan Adams and played 'London Town' on our podcast. You liked it and so did listeners within the industry. She got signed, finished her GCSE's and began developing her craft.

Fast forward to 2008: What a year it has been for Laura Marling. Things started off a little slow with her missing out on tips-for-2008 plaudits from many quarters of the media - mostly because they had their keyboards in a twist predicting Adele to be the lone lady worthy of your attention this year. I say some because of course DiS tipped her here, because we were blown away by her performance she did for us at 2007's The Great Escape festival. We weren't completely alone either, our spiritual uncle, that boogie-woogie impresario Jools Holland, also had her on his show performing this:

Whilst she may have missed the short-lived January buzz those who did discover Alas I Cannot Swim for themselves were smitten. It may not be an era-defining opus and it may not have had the same high bar of expectation but fall in love they did. It has gone on to sell and sell, was deemed worthy of a Mercury nomination and has become one of those records critics want to tell you about, especially when she was just doing side-projecty bits with Noah and the Whale.

If you've not seen her live yet we recommend you do. So much so we've managed to score a pair of tickets for each date of her tour for you to go see for yourselves.

All you need to do win a pair of tickets is send a note to Laura Marling Competition telling us in the subject line which show you'd like to goto and why you deserve tickets (click here to send a note). You'll need to sign-up for a user account to enter, if you don't already have one click here to sign-up. Competition closes two days before each of the dates, which are as follows:
