Run For The Covers! Top Brit bands play Brixton covers-fest this weekend
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater August 5th, 2009

Hot news of a hot, hot covers fest for this probably-not-very-hot weekend as the great and the good from around the country descend on the Brixton Windmill to play tribute, quite literally, over two days to the great and the good from across the pond.

Our Band Could BBQ Your Life sees the likes of The Xcerts, 4 or 5 Magicians and Ice! Sea! Dead People! give their take on the such lauded artistes as Black Flag, Mudhoney and Beat Happening.

As I'm sure you very well know, the event's title is a play on Michael Azzerad's Our Band Could Be Your Life and, obviously, each one of the bands chronicled in that very book will be "on the bill" this weekend.

What with it being at the Brixton Windmill there's also a BBQ on hand before the bands kick off, so if you want your fill of meat grilled by heat, then get there early doors. If that doesn't whet your appetite, both musically and gastronomically, then you are beyond redemption. Sorry.

Below is the lineup and running order. Take note!
