Portishead release single with Amnesty International
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater December 10th, 2009

Near-Bristolian type musical pioneers Portishead have signed up with worldwide charity Amnesty International to release a single, or at least a brand new track, which is called 'Chase The Tear'.

First aired yesterday, it will be released on International Human Rights Day (TODAY - DECEMBER 10!!!), as an exclusive download from the wonderful people over at 7Digital. Click here to go to the Portishead/Amenesty/7Digital official website to do the downloadin'.

Naturally, all earnings will go towards Amnesty's human rights work, and all rights are given to the organisation. There's also a video for 'Chase The Tear' which you can view by visiting Amnesty or Portishead's official site.

Ummmm any other information you should know? Well, the word 'tear' in the title is NOT about a tear from your eye, but rather a tear, like a muscle tear, a tear of the skin, or something horrible like that. Not sure if it's a euphemism or not, probably not though.

International Human Rights Day marks the anniversary of the United Nation's establishment of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which took place some 61 years ago. It includes some pretty fundamental tents of human being, including the right to life (it's a fair cop!), liberty (again...), security and general freedom of opinion and expression, as well as FROM torture and slavery.

For more information, visit Amnesty's official website here, or read up about the UDHR here or here. What say you, cultural relativists?
