Watch: Joanna Newsom perform 'Soft As Chalk' on 'Fallon'
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater March 9th, 2010

OK, OK, I know it seems like a total cop-out to just repost bands and artists who play on Jimmy Fallon's eponymous late-night chat show, but it has genuinely and honestly been a while since we furnished you with such beautiful editorial laziness.

This time it's the turn of Joanna Newsom to step up to the plate, performing 'Soft As Chalk', taken from her new and current long player, Have One On Me, which we reviewed here. Yes that is Matt Lucas you see. He has lost a lot of weight, I'm sure he'll thank you for noticing.

All I can say is...What the flying frig is she doing with her face? Is this an early audition for the USA's entry to the World Gurning Championships?! Is that singing from one side of your mouth then another a bona fide vocal technique?! Why do I even care?!

Newsom plays a few UK dates, listed below. Have One On Me is out now through Domino in the UK and Drag City in the US.

11 May - London, Royal Festival Hall w/ Roy Harper
12 May - London, Royal Festival Hall w/ Roy Harper
22 Aug - Glanusk Park, Green Man Festival
