Strokes album release date put back to 2011
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater July 6th, 2010

Anyone who was particularly looking forward to the new Strokes record being released this year...sorry - it will not be released in 2010. No sir. The long-awaited fourth album - it's been four-and-a-half years since their last record - has been put back to some time around March 2011. Provisionally. Hopefully.

Main man Julian Casablancas told BBC 6Music:

"We've been wanting to do it for months, or maybe a year now, and we keep thinking 'we'll do it for maybe these three weeks' and then we'll be done. Then we do it and decide we're not done, or something comes in the way."

He added:

"The record will come out in March. If I have an idea for something that I know head to toe, I'll probably do it on my own; and when I have looser stuff, I'll probably bring it to the Strokes. Right now we're just trying to finish this record. Let's see how it goes. Let's make sure no one tries to stab me or something."

So that's that then. Casablancas was cagey on whether he preferred playing solo than with the Strokes and also didn't have even the tiniest bit of gossip on offer for the name of the new full-length - not even a joke. Listen to the whole interview below, though little more is revealed in truth,.
