Listen: worriedaboutsatan remix of Esben & The Witch + Merry DiSmas mixtape
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater December 20th, 2010

Two of the darkest, most nocturnal and indeed most promising British acts of the past few years have been worriedaboutsatan and Esben And The Witch. If you can argue against this by all means do, but you are bang wrong. That's why it's pretty great that the Leeds-based duo have remixed the Brighton band, especially for you.

The track they've put their fingers and ears to, is 'Skeleton Swoon', which you definitely all should have heard by now. Listening to it, we think they've done pretty much all the things they do well, with all the aspects we adore from Esben. For these freezing, dark and wintry times this is a perfect fill and an early stocking filler.

Anyway, enough with the gabbling, you can get your hands on the remix by clicking HERE. It really is that simple.

Here are some words from Dan from Esben on the collaboration:

"It was not really too much of a decision asking worriedaboutsatan to do a remix, I bought Arrivals when it came out and the atmospherics and pacing were just beautiful and the job they have done on this remix is wonderful, I think they managed to make it sound even more macabre. We were fortunate enough to have them play with us in London recently and not only were they lovely gents but they were absolutely captivating. I imagine this wont be the last time our paths cross creatively (or at least we hope not)."

We've also got a special worriedaboutSANTA Christmas mix from Tom and Gavin, which you can listen to below. It's brilliant.

Worried About Santa - A Very Merry Dismas By Worriedaboutsatan by Drownedinsound on Mixcloud

Tracklisting:

  1. Hood - This Is It Forever
  2. Her Name is Calla - Moss Giant
  3. Explosions in the Sky - Day Seven
  4. Rameses III - Across The Lake Is Where My Heart Shines
  5. Fridge - Cut Up Piano and Xylophone
  6. Aphex Twin - Avril 14th
  7. The Black Dog - Business Carpark 9
  8. Ludavico Einaudi - Svanire
  9. El Fog - Mountain Dub
  10. Richard Skelton - Green Withins Brook
  11. Max Richter/ Dinah Washington - On The Nature of Daylight/ This Bitter Earth
  12. Low - (That's How You Sing) Amazing Grace
  13. Falconetti - A History of Skyscrapers
  14. Low - Silent Night

"We were asked to do a little something for DiS and the festive season, so thought a very seasonal mix might be fun. We included some songs we really love, and really put us in the mood for winter. For the most part it's beatless, but we couldn't resist the allure of loud drums, so threw some on there eventually." - worriedaboutsatan
