Here in true lazy journo style is the history of trash that Erol sent me for those who don't know what it is, etc....

London’s premier alternative nightclub Trash has been f*cking with heads, genre-bending, spotlighting new talent and shining like a beacon every Monday night for over five years now. Together its DJs Erol Alkan, James and Rory Phillips have shaped a soundtrack of weekday decadence, fun and excitement. This coupled with the participation brought by its weekly army of attendees, characters and overall sense of occasion each and every week make it a worthy choice for any self-respecting ace face. It has been lauded by the press, and spawned many a trash hit months before the world has woken up. Most of all it's loved by many, and remains firmly individual without having ever defaulted on its original gameplan.

Trash has also championed and showcased some of music’s most colourful and exciting new talent live, bands such as Stereo Total, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Rapture, Gold Chains, Gonzales Peaches, Soulwax, Bobby Conn and Zootwoman alongside cutting edge DJs like Tiga, Felix Da Housecat, Stuart Price (Jacques Lu Cont), Junior Sanchez, LCD Soundsystem to name but a few that have trodden the boards in some of their earliest, finest and most intimate shows/sets. This live spirit is captured in the first of the Trash companion albums, where six exclusive live tracks recorded at the clubs spiritual home at London’s End club, WC1, make up the first half of this record.

“TRASH hired me to do my tired old act whenever everybody else said I was washed up. I made an extra effort to freshen up my routines, even serenading an impossibly shy young lady named Anna. Apparently, the effort paid off, because the show received rave reviews. London loves me again. Now even my fiercest critics would agree that a venue of that size would be painfully embarrassing for an artist of my (newly found, thanks to TRASH) stature. Eat my dust!” Chilly Gonzales

“It was so god damn packed that the makeshift stage was the size of a coffee table, the bouncers stood in front of the stage at 7feet tall and Mignon and I had to climb on and over them throughout the show so that we get up close and personal on the crowd's ass.” Peaches

The second Companion will follow next year.

Trash is every Monday night at the End, West Central Street WC1. Be sure to dress for success.
