Skinner Confuses the Americans
shadyadie by [redacted] October 26th, 2002
This probably won't come as a surprise, but it seems The Streets' music doesn't translate well live in America.

A critic at music site CDNOW witnessed the debut American gig (in San Francisco), only to report:

"Their live show is in dire need of a translator... Those in the audience stood mostly baffled, not knowing whether to drop E and dance, light a spliff and bob their heads, or simply let the music move them in the way it would were this 2am in Ibiza and not 11pm in San Francisco. They weren't even sure if they were supposed to applaud."

Mike Skinner then tried to get the crowd to chant "let's 'ave it!", to more baffled responses.
