Gold Blade: Worldwide punk Killas
oappleby by Ollie Appleby March 12th, 2003
Gold Blade, featuring Drownedinsound's very own John Robb, are set to release a new single, re-release old albums and start their mammoth world tour in April.. time to get on board the soul train

New single and live favourite 'Who Was The Killa', a key cut from the critically raved about 'Do You believe In The Power Of Rock n Roll' album has been re-recorded featuring nothing short of musclebound horns and a classic rabble rousing 'Blade rush. It's out to buy on April 21st on TSB backed with re-releases of classic Gold Blade top 75 singles 'Black Elvis' and 'Strictly Hardcore' as well as another re-recorded track 'Uranus' PLUS the video from 'Who Was The Killa' is etched onto the CD. Bargain.

The band will be getting busy and touring from April to June across the UK on the Say No To Corporate War tour that also include supports with The Dead Kennedys and The Damned as well as several punk festivals around the world, including in Russia headlining the St Petersburg Punk Festival before touring the USA then Brazil (phew). The Brazilian tour is going to be made into a full TV documentary to hit TV in January 2004.

In other news, Gold Blade will be re-releasing their first two albums, which have been out of print for the last six months, at a special budget price through Cargo.

Frontman John Robb's 10 part documentary on the history of punk which was Play UK's most watched ever programme in the UK is to be picked up by MTV2 in the US and should be coming out on DVD later this year.
