Ooberman are in the final stages of the recording of their second album, the follow up to 1999s critically acclaimed 'The Magic Treehouse' and have described their album as "a melting pot of futuristic folk, towers of harmony and sliding Eastern strings ."
Speaking on the band's website www.ooberman.com , frontman Dan Popplewell spoke about the album, which the band have been working on tirelessly since October, "On and on we march, into the thankless unknown, trying to change the world with music, with no label and wondering who will hear the product of all this hard work. "
" The last month has seen quite an open ended explosion of ideas - new songs pouring out every day, sweeping changes made to songs in progress. We’re getting into the last couple of months now and the lazy midnight noodling has progressed to dizzier and stranger heights. The album is acquiring an outer limit. Meanwhile ballads about the wind and night sky are gently absorbing a wider picture - a backdrop of the search for meaning and spirituality when life is short, and there’s no God. "
The band will announce the full tracklisting and title soon, the album will be mixed in April and released this summer with a possible festival appearance to coincide.
