Thom Yorke announces solo album
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver May 15th, 2006

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has announced details of a solo album.

The singer sent a message to members of Radiohead's fan club, W.A.S.T.E.:

"This is just a note to say that something has been kicking around in the background that i have not told you about.
It's called The Eraser.
Nigel (Goodrich, Radiohead producer) produced and arranged it.
I wrote and played it.

The elements have been kicking round now for a few years and needed to be finished and I have been itching to do something like this for ages.
It was fun and quick to do. Inevitably it is more beats and electronics.
But it's songs.
Stanley (Donwood, aka Dan Rickwood) did the cover.
Yes it's a record!
No it's not a Radiohead record.

As you know the band are now touring and writing new stuff and getting to a good space so I want no crap about me being a traitor or whatever splitting up blah blah...

This was all done with their blessing. And I don't wanna hear that word solo. Doesn't sound right."

Well whoops. Anyway, The Eraser will be released in July (on the 11th we're informed) through XL (The Prodigy, The White Stripes).

Track listing runs as follows ('black swan' is to feature on the soundtrack to forthcoming Richard Linklater movie A Scanner Darkly, based on a novel by Philip K. Dick)...

1 'the eraser'
2 'analyse'
3 'the clock'
4 'black swan'
5 'skip divided'
6 'atoms for peace'
7 'and it rained all night'
8 'harrowdown hill'
9 'cymbal rush'
