Glast-off! Fest is all go for 2004
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver November 27th, 2003
Glastonbury 2004 was given the go ahead last night at an uneventful meeting of the Mendip District Council.

The meeting saw no complaints, no lengthy debates, no outright rejections, and no appeals from disgruntled local residents, a sign that last year's security measures paid off.

Last year the festival was initially refused a license, but reapplied successfully in the spring of 2003. When Mean Fiddler became involved, the festival's security and logistics were overhauled, leading to an almost total end to festival goers jumping the previously easily-scaled Glastonbury fence. Promoter and founder Michael Eavis has suggested that an airline-style check-in system may be employed at the 2004 event to combat ticket touts.

So far, Damien Rice, Doves and Paul McCartney have been touted as potential acts appearing on 2004's bill. Rumours also persist about a performance from the purple-suited pixie of pop, Prince. Glastonbury 2004 will run from the 25th June to the 27th June.
