DiScover The Unknown: January 2004 Pt. I, Zutons, Countermine, Trademark...
rubbafish by Colin Weston January 3rd, 2004
So what's been shaking over the festive period? Here is the latest news snippets:

Bristol-based indie Sink & Stove Records are to release a new compilation CD. Due for release in February 'The Hosptial Radio Request List Volume 2' will include the likes of The Dudley Corporation, Billy Mahonie, Lomax and The Playwrights, amongst others. It should be under a fiver.

Keeping it in the West-country, Bath-based band Countermine have the rough mixes of their new album online. Produced by Steve Brown (Manic Street Preachers) you can hear their latest tracks by clicking here.

Moving up to Liverpool.. Deltasonic have announced The Zutons plans for the start of 2004. Apart from supporting The Music in February, the band also release the single 'Pressure Point' on January 19th. You can download the track 'Haunt's Me' for free from the following link.

The guys at Z Records have got a special offer on. Buy any two full priced titles between December 10th 2003 & January 5th 2004 and they will add Rock the Nations Vol 4 totally free of charge (featuring new tracks from Final Frontier, Von Groove, Femme Fatale, Black n Blue and Rox Diamond)

Electro poppers Trademark have announced details on a new 4 track EP. Titled 'This is our Trademark', the band have told us that it will feature 4 new tracks - however, the release date & exact track listing is still to be completely confirmed.

And that concludes our first round up of 2004. Check out our next instalment, next week, when we will continue to fill you in on the parts other music sites/publications/stations can not reach. Mail anything you'd like to consider for inclusion to colin@drownedinsound.com.
