Burial - Kindred

tphrthms by Christopher T. Sharpe
The EP which finally turned me on to Burial. Isolation, alienation - the synthetic glow of bus strip lighting, headphones on whilst staring out into the corrupted darkness created by thunder, street-lamps and headlights. The title-track is the triumph of his career thus far, encompassing everything and perfecting the formula that he was himself so crucial in popularising if not creating. Elsewhere he ventures outwards whilst placing his distinctive imprint, ‘Loner’ as dance-music for the disaffected, ‘Ashtray Wasp’ twitching, uncomfortable, pervasive. A true landmark of electronic music in the 2000s.
