Less Than Jake

Borders & Boundaries

Label: Fat Wreck Release Date: 11/11/2000

DiSvsMatt by Mat Hocking November 11th, 2000

Yeh! A new Less Than Jake album! It doesn’t seem that long ago since ‘Hello Rockview’ was released but LTJ are back with another 15-tracks of bouncy hard-edged ska-punk goodness in the form of Borders & Boundaries. And with 79 releases [130 including compilations] under their belts they show no signs of slowing down. Every song is so darn catchy I actually recognise 5/6 tracks from when I saw ‘em at Manchester Uni recently. In particular the excellent hometown homage ‘Gainsville Rock City’, which I’m sure’s been fitting in well with the crowd during their stadium ROCK tour with Bon Jovi. (They’ve always said they’re a heavy metal band anyway).

As usual there’s songs about work, people they know (‘Mr Chevy Celebrity’, ‘Pete Jackson’s Getting Married’), but mostly songs about having fun which, let’s face it, is the whole point of their live shows.

But hey – this is Less Than Jake so you’ll have bought this already!
