Busdriver

Fear of a Black Tangent

Label: Big Dada Release Date: 28/02/2005

7897
-Raz- by Raziq Rauf March 16th, 2005

Crazy mental underground jazz hop MC Busdriver returns with this new genius record. High quality indie rappers are hardly a rarity with cLOUDDEAD and MC Lars and Buck 65 getting either massive critical acclaim or British festival appearances galore but Busdriver has only the first one. The beats seem genuinely fresh and the dextrously speedy rapping is original and scathing in equal measure while the singalong aspect is more than evident.

The album, featuring production by Daedalus and Danger Mouse among others, is filled with wonderfully refreshing tales of woe about the American's experiences. There is certainly no machismo here and the only slight ‘beef' covers a few sly digs at the bigger scene from which this is progeny. There is little more that you could want.
