Imagine you're in a dream where you've just stumbled into a bar, bought a large G&T and then, out of the blue, something startlingly magnificent happens...

Right there, before your very eyes, is Mark E Smith fronting what looks like the Cooper Temple Clause...and then you open your eyes, prick up your ears and realise you've not been dreaming after all.

Because Leicester six-piece redcarsgofaster really do sound like a concoction of the aforementioned Smith/Hammond/Maher et al collaboration, mixed with a small dose of Seachange's tenacious eclecticism and Agent Blue's bombastic enthusiasm.

Except on the evidence of the three tracks here, redcarsgofaster appear to have an outrageous desire to usurp all of their peers in one prestigious gulp.

The opening 'Sanctuary' mixes an almost classical piano interlude with a brutal guitar sound that could chop a thousand trees from 50 kilometres, while singer James Summers boasts "I know I'll have that girl, because I know I can...".

There's no letting up on the other songs either, with the blissed out psychogroove of 'Figure' rapidly eclipsing into the cataclysmic 'I Am The Storm', where guitars spiral, drums explode and no doubt the studio melts amidst a hail of white noise emanated heat.

Utterly fantastic as far as a starting point goes, which can only bode well for the future.
