Billy Gilman

One Voice

Label: Sony Release Date: 20/11/2000

sean by Sean Adams November 20th, 2000

Erm, the press release accompanying this promo claims this single “is a wake-up call to America and the world, a message of hope in a troubled society that has lost its way”.

‘Goooooooood moooorning Bohemiaarrrgghhh!!’ If this 12 year old is what it takes to open peoples eyes, then I think I can see myself going blind. ‘One Voice’ is the kinda song that’ll send a shiver down your spine from being so sweet. Billy Gilmans lyrics have as much depth as Fred Durst, for example “Mom won’t watch the news tonight, there’s too much stuff making her cry”. Take the thought of Limp Bizkit out of head now and begin to imagine that kid from school who used to spend his whole summer gardening, between hours of searching for train track. Billy Gilman seems like that young biddy. He’s just entered his teens and you could easily be confused that he (atleast I think it’s a boy…) is waiting to push up daises with Celine Dion or Elton John. Actually, one of those two or one their paid songwriters probably wrote this track for the wee lad(d)y.

Perhaps a wake-up call is what this song needs to be because I really can’t see many people staying awake after hearing this. I guess you could buy it for your granny for Christmas if you're feeling nice.

Right, enough, I can't bare to think about this anymore...
