Hedrock Valley Beats

Coming Thru [My Stereo]

Label: Infectious Release Date: 11/01/2001

ransell by Rachelle Ansell January 11th, 2001

The front cover for this single features two mean looking, moustachioed Noo York cops on a graffiti strewn 1970s subway train. They look like they are related to Village People’s cop and you can pretty much guess what the main track, Coming Thru [My Stereo] will sound like.

I bet it will have that retro disco feel to it. Except that the Retro Disco Feel will have been dragged through the breakbeat quagmire.

Bingo! I’m right, except that Hedrock Valley Beats have also added a load of Morse code bleeps over the top.

Track two is a remix of the same song. Speeded up, ch-ch-ch-chopped up and garnished with added squiggly bits and bigger drums.

The b-side as it were is called Cop Show. Back to the 70’s we go for that Retro Disco Feel. This could be the same as the first song, were it not for a change of sample, and an epic bit of keyboard sample that could have been nicked from any period sci-fi film.

For this single to sound good it would need a big sound system and lots and lots of people smashed out of their tiny little skulls.
