Sheryl Crow

Soak Up The Sun

Label: A&M Records Release Date: 01/04/2002

1615
-Raz- by Raziq Rauf April 10th, 2002

This is *Sheryl Crow’s *5th bite of the cherry by my count, but then I was never good at counting. After her second album was released to both critical acclaim and _huge _public endearment, she was looking good. Then singles didn’t continue to make their mark. The trend followed with her albums. Listening to this it’s not difficult to see why.

I love her first two albums and with ‘Soak Up The Sun’ it just seems that she’s trying to recapture some of that spirit. Ms.Crow ends up *failing *rather miserably. That sexy voice, the one that initially drew me to her, is still apparent but is lacking the gloom and reality of her earlier work. She’s just too goddamn happy! Applause must be received on her part for yet another _cracking _video. She’s pulled out the acoustic *guitar *and a suntan. Fantastic. Why did my English teachers _never _look like that?

Despite my spirits having been lifted somewhat by a bikini-clad video, I’m feeling _slightly _poetic in a melancholy, remembering the good old days, sort of way so I shall recommend you shovel this drivel *back into the hovel that our *Sheryl wrote it in.
