Me Against Them

Do The Splits EP

Label: Star Harbour

1985
_adam_ by Adam Anonymous July 2nd, 2002

When it gets to the point where an Oasis comparison would be unfair to the stumbling boys of Madchester, then new depths of mediocrity really are being plumbed.

From the same label that brought you recent quirky über-shit minor chart hit ‘The Wheels On The Bus’ by Mad Donna, ‘Do The Splits’ doesn’t know if it wants to be dadrock, sleazy-cheesy garage stomping or some kind of witty half-arsed attempt at lyrical innuendo.

The accompanying press blurb unwittingly belies everything you need to know about Me Against Them. Barring a doubtful combination of events, all you learn of the band is a ‘wacky’ piece of fiction that cunningly avoids mentioning they are almost certainly four spotty teenagers from Tamworth. And, as such, on a par with the most boring bands ever conceived.
