FULC

The Fallen EP

Label: Stunted

DiSvsMatt by Mat Hocking November 4th, 2002

Evidently influenced greatly by passionate American rock acts like Stone Temple Pilots *and *Creed, Fulc have grabbed hold of those big stadium-filling riffs, adopted some strong & capable vocal duties and headed into the infamous Sawmill Studios to record this self-released EP.

But rather than following the American rock blueprint Fulc have upped the ante somewhat, scathing riffage cutting along the up-beat, rocking chorus of _‘Nest’ _before an impressive noodly link back to the verse. *‘The Fallen’ *EP contains plenty of these interesting guitar parts but as far as melding these into cohesive songs the result is more patchy and jagged song structures with lyrics that kind of verge on the ambiguous, to put it mildly.

Their sound is, nevertheless, compelling and it’d be interesting to hear how they progress from this, as their potential is plain to see. Definitely keep a look out for them, although I wouldn’t be surprised if they re-surface under a new moniker!
