The Radio Dept.

Liebling

Label: Rex Release Date: 28/04/2003

3955
dmerryweather by David Merryweather May 11th, 2003

For the immediate attention of anyone who closely cherishes Boo Radleys‘ ‘Everything’s Alright Forever’ and Stereolab‘s ‘Peng!’ albums and the first three exquisite Slowdive EPs.

The driving ‘Liebling’ sees Malmö four piece, The Radio Dept., come riding through a blizzard of reverb on a krautrock motorcycle heading for the cliffs that overlook an infinite drop into a swirling drone rock fog.

Over a careful motorik beat, the second and preferred track, ‘We Would Fall Against The Tide’, has plaintive vocals weaving through a drifting cloud of robot bees as lost bells chime
in hazy memories of long, blue-sky days and the first slow unbuttoning of a dress...

Call it skygazing.
