The Capes

Regional Heats

Label: Outafocus Release Date: 25/08/2003

What can you say about the current British indie scene? There are a lot of no-hoper bands out there and even the better ones are being ruthlessly ignored by the majors. After all those long years of ripping the piss out of Australia for being utterly devoid of musical worth, they’ve suddenly churned out a veritable fleet of acts that put our nation to shame.

It’s not all bad, though. Underneath the majors’ radars are a handful of prime pop talents, just waiting to be unearthed. One such group are (The) Capes, whose mighty noise is chanelled expertly into ‘Regional Heats’ – a single catchy enough to win even downtrodden England a cricket match.

Chocked full of wholesome harmonies and waaaay more Silver Sun than The Strokes, this is the sound of the UK striking back, and boy does it sound good.
