Cablecar live is about as exciting as watching Athlete playing Monopoly over and over again, in the hope that “Deptford Fun City” suddenly appears on the board. Thankfully, however, ‘Wasting Time’ is a tune to trigger off a collective “awwww”, which may suggest why it’s the band’s debut single (well, that and the fact it’s the demo which won the fierce panda competition after the Rain Band/Medium 21 tour earlier this year).

Proving the less-is-more theory, it’s like the lo-fi Coldplay, with sweet, tinkling guitars and laid-back vocals, perfect for the end-of-a-party blues. A promising sign of things to come but currently lacking in the charisma department…
