Continuing in his tradition of miniscule runs of advance 12” singles ahead of a full-length opus, Squarepusher kindly bashes out three slabs of pre-‘Ultravisitor’ drum & bass weirdness with trademark couldn’t-give-a-fuck impudence.

‘Square Window’, one of two non-album tracks exclusive to this release and Warp’s new digital download site bleep.com, is standard, quirky Tom Jenkinson fodder, while ‘Talk About You & Me’ pushes the tempo and the bar up somewhat. Oscillating and ever-threatening to fall out of all cohesive timing, it’s Squarepusher doing what Squarepusher does best – gratuitously odd electronica for rave freaks. The title track from the upcoming LP, however, is the best of the lot; seven minutes packed to overbalancing point with jungle rhythms and itchy-assed beats galore.

Quite an appetising starter then, but the main course will be served on March 8th to fully satisfy your hunger.
