Newly signed to Liverpool’s kingdom of quirkdom Deltasonic, you might well expect The Dead 60s sound to have all the hallmarks of a wandering Zuton, a bouncing Coral or possibly even... er... The Basement. And of course you’d be right. Sort of.

From the sirens through the shuffling skank breaks and into the sporadic lyrical yelps, 'You’re Not The Law is powered by a solid reggae groove, rather than The Addams Family theme so often adopted by some of their label mates. The production almost replicates the Two Tone sound. To be honest, you might as well listen to the best from the ska label's stable, although this tune stills feels a little different, which is of course always ace. However, if as the title suggests the track comments on a state of social upheavel, it's very dissapointing that you can barely hear what's being sung. The song's sparse, instrumental thumps and organ blips veer towards Pete Tosh and The Specials. If The Roxy Club was to once again open its doors, Don Letts would be spinning this track between the likes of 'Legalise It' and 'Ghost Town' every night. If all that's your cup of tea, then 'You're Not The Law' may just be your new favourite biscuit.
