Zombina and the Skeletones

I Was A Human Bomb For The FBI

Label: Release Date: 30/08/2004

rubbafish by Colin Weston January 13th, 2005

When discussing music and Liverpool, several bands are normally thrown in to the mix straight away. Bands of yester-year like The Beatles and the more recent acts such as The Coral are branded around liberally, but in the darkest corners of the Aigburth area something is stirring...

Female fronted 5 piece band Zombina & The Skeletones have been rocking it up all over the country for around 2 years. Now they have their new album set to hit the streets within the next few months but first is this limited edition 7"... and fuck me it's good! 'I Was A Human Bomb...' is a track that would give Rocket From The Crypt a run for their money on the straight up balls out rock front. The Skeletones are the perfect mash up of RFTC, **The Misfits and, dare I say it... Younger Younger 28s! 'I Love Rock & Roll' (not the Joan Jett song) is already one of my favorite songs of the year with its sickly sweet ascending vocals and Hammond organ backing. It's simply superb!

It does not surprise me that this 7" is already close to selling out because it is a great release in its own right but something says to me that people in the Mersey area know there is something special here... and I agree.
