The Pigeon Detectives

I'm Not Sorry

Label: Dance To The Radio Release Date: 13/03/2006

12584
domgourlay by Dom Gourlay March 12th, 2006

With more tunes than the counter of a pharmacy and a way with words that wouldn't delight the grand old dukes of Shakespearian grammar, but to the rest of the population sound like good food and wine, The Pigeon Detectives look set to be this year's surprise package that not even the most switched on of A&R men could have predicted.

If you haven't heard this already, 'I'm Not Sorry' is as loud and excitable a kiss-off as your ex is ever likely to receive. Think The Cribs after six pints of Theakston's Old Peculier and a chicken tikka mix from Kebabish and you're on the right track.

It's the b-side though where things really get interesting. 'I'm Always Right' has been blurring out of many a radio station's speakers for a little while now and is surely set to be the underground's feel good hit of this spring. With a guitar hook to die for and gratuitous instinctive terrace chanting a-go-go throughout, this really is one of the most delightfully infectious records you'll hear all year.
