SOY UN CABALLO

Last year Aurelie Muller and Thomas Van Cottom, aka Soy Un Caballo, released their delightful debut album, titled "Les Heures De Raison" - you may have already caught a glimpse of them featured in Blogotheque's 'Take Away Show', or previously you may have heard Aurelie's collaboration with Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst.

"Call it global village music: on "La Chambre", Belgian boy/girl duo Soy un Caballo (Spanish translation: "I'm a horse") and Louisville's Will Oldham sing entirely in French over what is essentially indie-fied bossa nova. Backed by nothing but an acoustic guitar, a Rhodes piano and a brokedown rhythm preset, Oldham and Aurélie Muller sound weightless and content, their half-sighed verses resolving into sweet choral refrains. Of course, the language doesn't hurt either; it's downright charming to hear Oldham's woodsy Kentuckian palette wrap itself around a French lyric." - PITCHFORK

PAUL MOSLEY

If you don't know Paul Mosley so far you have missed: A band called Moses, being accused of stealing from The Clangers, Radio 2 playlists, 6music sessions, being shushed and praised at the same time by Tom Robinson, singing in an Amsterdam brothel, Oliver Postgate approvingly quoting Dee-Lite lyrics, Jools Holland inviting himself backstage', improvising on bassoons, flutes, a lot of incredible harp, losing a moth to Florence and the Machine, monkeys, pigs, wolves and some astonishing music.

V.O. ('Version Originale') is the project of Boris Gronemberger, former guitar player with French singer Françoiz Breut. On the debut UK album release on Folkwit Records, 'Obstacles' melts intimate songwriting, post-rock à la Tortoise, subtle electronics and reminds the best moments of Brian Wilson, it features contributions by members of Soy Un Caballo and was mixed by Charlie Francis (High Llamas, REM).

CITIZEN HELENE is a psychedelic-folk songstress from Dorset. Described as "pure 60's West Coast pop", her sound has been likened to that of Margo Guryan, Karen Carpenter and Joni Mitchell with English sensibilities, combining lush Beach Boys harmonies with a touch of lo-fi Spector-style production. Since moving to London, Helene has supported Ed Harcourt and The Superimposers.

"Baroque and beautiful" - DARIAN SAHANAJA (Wondermints, Brian Wilson)
