ALLO, DARLIN’
Allo Darlin' are many things. They can turn a room in a famous punk venue into a joyous, jumping, sweaty, pop-mosh pit. Or bring a room of 500 to hushed silence with the few strums of a ukulele and a love song about cooking. Among the many shows they’ve played have been Indietracks, S?n and SXSW festivals. They’ve had glowing reviews in places such as the Metro, The Fly and The Guardian, the latter calling their "Henry Rollins" single "the best indiepop song for years", while their next single “The Polaroid Song” made it into the Drowned in Sound Top 50 Singles of 2009. They've also had airplay on BBC Radio 1 & 2, BBC 6music and XFM and were recently selected by Steve Lamacq as his personal choice for BBC Radio’s Introducing week. Their debut album will be released in June 2010.
“Terrific, witty and heartfelt, like a less moody Belle & Sebastian” (The New York Times)

STANDARD FARE
The latest band to join the legendary Thee SPC roster, Standard Fare are a trio from Sheffield who blur the lines between post-punk and indiepop, sounding like a long lost Peel favourite brought back to life for 2009. Angular, melodic, spiky, intimate, there are hints of Young Marble Giants, The Go-Betweens, early PJ Harvey and The Lodger all tussling for space here. Their single "Dancing" was one of 2009’s musical highlights, a tale of broken relationships told to a delicious melody that's musically somewhere between The Lemonheads and Los Campesinos! and they’ve since gone on to release a debut album that’s every bit as good.
"I love Standard Fare for many reasons: the crackling female vocals; the way each song seems as though it's about to fall apart before it roars off into the stratosphere again; the fact that, in the days of ridiculous band names, they have a quite self-effacing one" (A Layer Of Chips)

THE MIDDLE ONES
The Manchester and Norwich based 2 (but sometimes 5) piece have been winning hearts and ears wherever they play, the unaware heirs to the legacy of the Marine Girls, Melody Dog, the Fence Collective, and even a little Magnetic Fields. They play lo-fi folk, with heart warming close harmonies, the occasional toy instrument, and mountains of charm. Their debut, a 4 track 10" single in a hand made scrapbook sleeve, is out now on Where It's At Is Where You Are.
