Disco Bloodbath play Buzzin' Fly's Winter Party...

lizzibuzz [Edit] [Delete] 12:44, 15 November '10

DIAL RECORDS, DFA's TIM SWEENEY AND DALSTON'S DISCO BLOODBATH JOIN BEN WATT'S BUZZIN' FLY FOR ITS LATEST SEASONAL LONDON PARTY AT CABLE ON SATURDAY DECEMBER 11

Tightening their grip on their new Saturday night residency at the superbly appointed Cable near London Bridge, Ben Watt's Buzzin' Fly offers up the third in its series of ever-popular seasonal parties on Saturday December 11 with yet another stellar and diverse line-up.

In the main room Watt moves away from inviting a single guest DJ and instead invites an entire label, as Buzzin' Fly is joined by perhaps one of the most perfect foils for it's own subtle but emotionally charged brand of deep house in a head-to-head with Hamburg's acclaimed Dial Records. Formed by Peter M. Kersten (aka Lawrence) and David Lieske (Carsten Jost) in 2000 Dial has established a ten-year reputation for richly textured and often startlingly experimental modern house and techno. Feted singles and albums from Pantha du Prince, Efdemin and Pawel have been five-star highlights in a label sound that has stretched from crystalline ambient soundscapes through sparkling electro-pop to the most muscular of modern dancefloor killers - a cross-section not unlike the discography of Buzzin' Fly itself. In this most perfect of deep house battles, Buzzin' Fly's head honcho Watt and long-time co-resident Chris Woodward beckon Dial's co-founder Lawrence (widely regarded as one of Europe's finest true underground DJs) and rising star RNDM into the booth.

In contrast, in the second room, Watt tempts Dalston's finest disco specialists, Disco Bloodbath, to throw one of their own inimitable parties. Hosting and orchestrating the room all night Damon Martin and Ben Pistor promise a four-hour odyssey of joyous cross-referenced disco before handing over to US headliner, Tim Sweeney. Over ten years Sweeney has built a reputation for hosting the best and most future-facing dance music radio show in New York City. From humble origins on the AM dial his Tuesday night show and blog, Beats In Space, has turned him into one of America's most in-demand DJs. He hooked up with New York's defining modern imprint, DFA, to record and compile music for the esteemed imprint and has toured with James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) and Tim Goldsworthy. His mix style brilliantly weaves the threads of all the music currently fixating New York from rare electric boogie through off-ramp 80's pop to beat-down Detroit and beyond. He flies in especially for the appearance.
