Fri 17th DEC @ KINGS PLACE, LDN - ARCTIC CIRCLE CHRISTMAS CONCERT feat. SAM AMIDON, EMILY BARKER, TED BARNES, THE SLEEPING YEARS, DOM COYOTE

at_the_sea [Edit] [Delete] 12:23, 16 December '10

Hi

Just a quick message to alert all browsing DiS to the Time Out recommended Arctic Circle Christmas concert at Kings Place (near Kings Cross station) which takes place tomorrow (17th) at 8pm.

The already impressive line up has now been supplemented by the announcement of a special guest in the shape of Sam Amidon. What better Christmas celebration can you have for just £9.50

Here's some Time Out blurb...

"Annual Christmas celebration of folk's frosty fringes, headlined here by suitably wintery Aussie songwriter Barker, whose band's excellent breakthrough album 'Despite The Snow' combined slide, fiddle, honeyed vocals and lonely piano on countrified tales of love and redemption, and furnished the theme tune to Kenneth Branagh's 'Wallander'. Plus cinematic, sepia-tinted, (mostly) instrumental compositions from Barnes and lilting, tremulous lyricism from Grundle of The Sleeping Years."
