ALEXANDER TUCKER presents IMBOGODOM
(Thrill Jockey)

Alexander Tucker (ATP) presents eerily atmospheric live and tape-splicing collaboration with New Zealand's Daniel Beban.

IMBOGODOM originated from out-of-hours sessions using the BBC World Service's old tape machines at Bush House where Beban was working as an engineer.
Using an array of instruments, objects, dictaphones, and voices, the duo switch between one operating the tapes and mixing desk and the other being the player.

The resulting sessions were released on Thrill Jockey in 2009 as 'The Metallic Year': a collection of eerie tracks where sound collage and unravelling songs present a haunted world of spooling atmospheres, warped instrumentation, and disembodied voices. The nocturnal creations were inspired by the tape experiments of BBC's Radiophonics Workshop, Terry Riley, Steve Reich, and their love of New Zealand musician Alastair Galbraith. Imbogodom continue in the tradition of these sonic pioneers to bring new sounds from old sources.

Alexander Tucker has also collaborated with Stephen O'Malley and played for us in Cambridge in support of Fuck Buttons as part of the ATP tour. As IMBOGODOM he supported Oval on their recent UK dates and may or not be wearing a yeti suit...
